The Blue Grass Run logo was the breakthrough in my logo design career. I was interning under the designer, Bob Newman, at Newman Design Associates. Bob was struggling with the design of a logo for his Blue Grass Run Band.
I was looking on and commented, “You’re going at this all wrong. I have an idea”. I went to my desk and in pencil drew the design for the Blue Grass Run logo. Bob came over and was shocked! This was in the early eighties and done by hand. It took me 6 months in between working on other projects. It was before the computer. From then on Bob gave me all the logos to do and said: “I was a natural”. The Blue Grass Run logo won numerous awards. Bob eventually retired and went on to teach graphic design at the prestigious Savannah College of Art and Design.
