Bonnie Segal

BIO

I started out after college as a producer, writer and animator for Sesame Street. Those films are in the permanent Children’s Television Workshop Library.

Then I migrated over to Graphic Design working independently for my own clients. After a few years, I worked for the award-winning Newman Design Associates designing Annual Reports, Corporate Identity and various media.

Teaching

I have taught Corporate Identity, Graphic Design and Design Theory at Association of Graphic Communications, AGC.

Board of Directors

I helped create events for the Environmental Design committee, under the auspices of the AIGA, American Institute of Graphic Arts. I also was the Program Chair for Women in Design, and have served numerous times on the Board of Directors of SIGGRAPH/NY, the largest computer graphics organization in the world.

Publications

In 1988 I was one of 12 up-and-coming designers chosen to be on the cover of Art Direction Magazine. I have also been featured in American Corporate Identity, Creativity 15, Society of Publication Designers Annual. My identity marks were chosen to be in The source Book of Visual Ideas by The chair of Design at School of Visual Arts, Steve Heller and the well-known illustrator, Seymour Chwast.

Awards

Awards include: Graphics NY Illustration, Philadelphia Art Directors Club Best of Show, American Corporate Identity, Society of Publication Designers, Creativity, Desi, Andy Award of Merit, STA 100, Praxis, American Design Award. In this last most recent competition I won four awards for four different logo designs.

Education

I graduated from Pratt Institute with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in film animation and graphic design. I also hold a Business and Marketing Associates Degree from Baruch College. I furthered my studies in Computer Arts at School of Visual Arts and NYU’S Center for Digital Multimedia. I also studied Branding at NYU and School of Visual Arts.
